Where
is Porto Ercole ?
Located
in a strategic position for tourism and protected by the
promontory of Monte Argentario, the village of Porto
Ercole still maintains its charme and fascination along with the
calmness of the ancient small villages. The old small harbor is
dominated, in its nearest area, by Forte Filippo and the Rocca,
two ancient fortifications which testify the "Stato dei
Presidi", the Spanish presence in the territory.
This is
the place for relaxation outdoors, for some of the best
sand beaches, and also for visiting the historic sites of
the region's rich Etruscan and Roman past. |

The
beaches in Port Ercole are clean and serviced, which means
that you can rent beach chairs and umbrellas. A popular beach
spot is the strip of Feniglia, between Porto Ercole and
Orbetello.
For scenic driving
routes, follow signs to Il Telegrafo, one of the highest
mountains in the region. Stop at Convento dei Frati
Passionisti, a church and convent with views across to the
mainland.
